Emphasis on Preaching the Gospel

"The main thing I care about is getting out the Gospel, getting God's message of Love to the lost, to the people who need it"

Coupled with his great faith in the Love of God was a lifelong belief that once Christians have a personal knowledge of God, their primary responsibility is to dedicate their time, energy and resources to sharing the Gospel with others. To David, there was no other reason for existence. It was this passion for winning others to Christ that had led him to leave organized religion and eventually start the Children of God. He was determined to inculcate the same ardor in his followers. He wrote:

"The main thing I care about is getting out the Gospel, getting God's message of Love to the lost, to the people who need it, to liberate the captives, save the lost, heal the sick and preach the Gospel to the whole world!" [48]

"I wouldn't be happy if I couldn't be teaching people, helping people, preaching the Gospel and talking about God's Love!" [49]

"Our job is to reach the ends of the earth with the Gospel -- to get the message across. That's our job." [50]

"What is the greatest work in the world? -- To witness the Words of God, to preach the Gospel, to tell people about God's Love, to show them the Love of Jesus!" [51]

"'Go ye into all the world and preach the Gospel to every creature' is not an option! It's a commandment! The message is clear! There's no denying it, or excusing ourselves! We must simply have the faith to obey, even if it means going out not knowing whither we go!

"Jesus made it quite clear that all Christians are ordained to preach the Gospel (see John 15:16). This is why we are banding together and spreading around the world: to devote our full time and energies to preaching the Gospel to every creature, winning their souls to Jesus Christ and their bodies to His service for others!" [52]

"Our goal is the salvation of the souls of men, that they might find the Love of Jesus Christ their Savior and be saved. Nothing more, nothing less!" [53]

"If you have lost the pioneering spirit and you're not going forward to establish the Kingdom of God on Earth, and you're content short of that goal, you're satisfied with what you've already got, and you're not interested in progressing until you see the Kingdom of God really established on Earth and righteousness covering the Earth as the waters cover the seas and the coming of Christ, then you're backsliding!

"The minute anybody in our outfit comes to the conclusion that he has arrived ... and has come as far as he wants to go, watch out! I'll tell you, it's not me! I'll never be satisfied until everybody on earth is saved, which will never happen, of course. But I'm looking forward to the day when … almost everybody will be saved -- at least there won't be many left in Hell if any, and I think that's when God will be satisfied too. -- But that's a long way off!" [54]
