- Christmas at an Orphanage
- During Christmas 2007, we participated in a Christmas program for an orphanage in Enugu State. The venue, food, and drinks we’re all donated by sponsors.
- Helping Hand, Cape Town - 2007 Statistics
- (Email: helpinghand@telkomsa.net; Tel: 072 4437846) We were able to locally collect and distribute ZAR 3,191,584 worth of goods during 2007 (approximately 280,000 euros).
- Katakwi Flood Relief
- When the floods struck in the northeast region of our country in 2007, hundreds of thousands of people were stranded without access to food, roads, or hope. We were contacted by a local charity organization that had previously helped fund our relief efforts to the needy.
- Karimojong Widows
- We took a 10-ton truck to Nakapiripirit-Namalu in Karamoja, where a friend ran a camp for some very needy widows and children.
- Orphans from Lira and Katakwi
- A local pastor, Peter Obua, was formerly a soldier when he found out he was HIV positive. He then had an amazing experience with Jesus, which changed his life.
- Seeds of Hope Germinate in Prison
- One of our friends, Lukia, has an ongoing ministry to the inmates of a women’s prison here in Uganda. A number of these women were simply near the scene of a crime and so were rounded up by the police. Then, without the means to afford proper representation, they languish in prison indefinitely.
- Carpet a Creche Campaign, Diepsloot
- Every year we work to upgrade the crèches (childcare facility) in Diepsloot in some way. Most of the babies and toddlers take their naps during the day on cement floors, often with just a thin blanket underneath them. Most crèches have very little carpet.
- The Three Desert Team
- A team of some of our teenagers and young volunteers embarked on a trip through the arid landscape of three deserts: the Karoo, the Namib, and the Kalahari, with a mission to make a difference in the lives of other young people.
- Zaria update – Completion of VVF building and renovation of old VVF ward
- The VVF Vocational Training Center and Recovery Ward that we began building in October 2006 is now completed and up and running. Two of our volunteers spent a week in Zaria, where we completed the final touches on the building itself, as well as on the adjacent kitchen and bathroom.
- Medical Projects Move Forward
- Two ongoing medical projects sponsored by Family Care Nigeria have made significant advances in recent months. The doctor’s residence behind the Family Care Ikota Clinic is now finished.
