Activated readers and members of the Family at a retreat in Italy

The Family International offers a number of options for membership and service within our fellowship. There are no restrictions to membership with regards to race, culture, gender, or nationality. Our fellowship is currently comprised of members from over 100 nationalities. In order to be eligible for Family membership, it is required that members adhere to the tenets of our Statement of Faith, and abide by the membership requirements for the category of membership they are associated with.

Family membership is currently comprised of the following categories:

General members: Members who are associated with the Family International through receiving our literature regularly and supporting or collaborating with the Family on missionary or humanitarian projects.

Active members: Members who fellowship with a Family community, receive Family literature, and actively work with and contribute to Family communities on a regular basis.

Fellow members: Members who subscribe to Family publications, and tithe 10% of their income to help support Family operations, with few other requirements.

Missionary members: Members who may or may not live in a communal Family residence, who regularly engage in missionary outreach, tithe 10% of their income, and abide by the Missionary Member Statutes, which outline the requirements for this level of fellowship.

Family disciples: Members who reside in a Family community, regularly devote their full time to missionary outreach and activities, pool their goods and income, tithe 10% of their income, and abide by the Family International's Charter.

Former Family members: Over 35,000 people have at some point devoted their lives to service to God and fellow man with the Family International. Many, having devoted years to missionary work, are no longer active members of our fellowship and have opted to retire or pursue other careers. We are deeply grateful for the time and effort that those who have departed from our fellowship have invested in missionary work with the Family. Our sincere hope for our former membership is that they can lead fulfilling lives and achieve the new goals they set for themselves upon departing from our communities.
